The Essence of Easter: Reflections on Freedom and FaithAs we approach Easter this Sunday, let's take a few moments to reflect on the beauty of the death and resurrected life of Jesus. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God (Romans 4:25). The cross was the supreme demonstration of God's love and now nothing can separate us from his love (Romans 8:35-37). Additionally, Christ's death and resurrection allows his children to walk in freedom (Galatians 5:1). Who the Son sets free, is free indeed! The Significance of the ResurrectionAll of this truth and amazement is so much bigger and deeper than a box to be checked off for going to church on Easter Sunday (or Christmas). It's about a relationship with the Lord. The price God the Father paid for us is to be in relationship with Him in every hour of every day. Jesus walked on this earth perfectly, as a man. His feet got dirty and he engaged in all the circles of life to be the example for us on how to live our lives, day in and day out, in the joys and trials. Now, that same power (the Holy Spirit) that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside of all who receive Him into their hearts (Romans 8:11).Beyond the Easter Service: Living with the SpiritWe have been given all we need to be in relationship with the Lord and to walk with Him daily. As believers we have the Holy Spirit living within us, the Bible/His love letter to us, prayer and freedom in this country to go to a church of our choosing to connect with other Christians.
